Port Augusta (last day in Adelaide)
Our last day in Adelaide was a lovely way to end. We went across the road to the Westfield in the morning and stocked up on supplies including our third caravan step for the trip. (Apparently i like to leave them at rest stops!) The rest of the day we spent in and by the pool as it was a lovely 29degrees. I decided we couldnt leave Adelaide without seeing the rotunda by the river in the city so we headed in to have a picnic dinner there. It was very nice although Adelaide seems to under construction wherever you go at the moment so there were cranes across the skyline and even the river bank was being dug up. I put the photo of the plane in as you see a lot flying low over the city, its quite amazing.
We then headed off for Port Augusta Thursday morning. Another hectic drive out of the city trying to dodge roadworks but smooth sailing once through. Well, apart from forgetting to lock the caravan roof down and cruising down the highway noticing a corner was sticking up! All good, no damage apart from my initial heart palpatations!
Port Augusta is only about 300kms from Adelaide so we stopped once we came to the beginning of the coast at Port Pirie for lunch less than an hour from Port Augusta. An interesting town built on mining related industry. Naturally we stopped at the skate park and got in some bmx-ing and scootering in between sandwiches! Arrived by mid afternoon in time for another swim before dinner : )
