Kakadu Tracks

We headed down to the Cooinda region next to go on this tour with some aboriginal sisters who grew up in a traditional setting and who still know traditional ways of life on the land. This was an absolute highlight for the boys, and me! We dug up bush carrots, ate lilly seeds (tasted like lentils) and stems (tasted like celery), pandanus heart (texture of coconut), green ants which is medicinal for headaches etc and tasted very citrusy! and we saw lots of wildlife including lizards, birds, dingo, and a snake! We watched the stork below 'stork' its prey then dive its head in the water and grab a fish, great to watch!

This is getting a nice big piece of paperbark for the bush camp oven we make later in the afternoon to cook our dinner!

Patsy made paint by grinding ochre on this old grinding rock and mixing it with water..
