The next morning we were booked on a tour of the lava tubes but first we had a bush billy breakfast!
The tubes were amazing! They were made by lava flowing along after spewing out of the volcano. The inner layer of lava is the hottest and fast moving and the outer layer is cooler and sluggish and that is what is left behind to create the tube itself. Over time, the tubes that werent as thick break down and collapse. In these cases you can still see the path its taken and the rocks left behind..
